My name is Marcy, and I reside in Connecticut. ¡Bienvenido(a)!

I am a middle and high school Spanish teacher at an independent (read: private) day school.  I have been blogging since December 2006, on another blog.  That blog was recently taken down and deleted.  So, it is no more.

I decided to create a new blog - this blog - as a 44th birthday gift to myself.  When I began writing my previous blog, I was in a much different place, both personally and professionally. I am happy to say that I have grown and evolved since then, for the better, and that growth has led to a different sort of blog and writing focus.

I hope that this blog can accomplish several important goals. First, to present the things my students and I are doing in the classroom. Second, to reflect on my own teaching practice as a second language teacher. Third, to share tips and resources re: foreign language teaching and learning. I have an emerging interest in Web 2.0 tools and their potential to engage students and enrich second language learning. Fourth, language in general intrigues me - the way people speak and the words they choose, and how emotions, beliefs, perceptions and language are so intimately intertwined. So, I will share my insights in this regard from time to time.

My interests include: Curriculum, Web 2.0 in second language teaching, language variety, slang, biased language, the intersection of race, gender and language, blogging (obviously - LOL), reading, film, watching true crime programs, Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, napping, container gardening, photography, music, intelligent and provocative conversation.

By the way: For those who don't speak Spanish, pensamientos means 'thoughts'.
