A Man Who's Not Even in the 20th Century, Never Mind the 21st
"I came into this landmine of Anglos versus Spanish versus Mexicans versus Indians versus everybody up here. I'm just doing what I've always done." Larry Whitten
This clown, in order to turn around a failing hotel, wanted Latinos to change their names. But, folks weren't having it. Read the story here.
You're a racist, Larry. It's the proverbial truth.

Three thoughts:
1. I likewise hate when off-shored call centers try to make it look like they're still in the U.S. by having their reps call themselves by American names. If your name is Ramesh, just tell me you're Ramesh. You don't have to pretend your name is "Bob" or "Jim".
2. There was a Dunkin' Donuts franchise owner here in New York's Westchester County, who, a couple of years ago, got some complaints from customers about his employees "speaking a foreign language" in front of them. The plaintiffs thought the employees were talking about them (the customers), and objected. The franchise owner responded by threatening his employees with firing if they did that again, and put up a sign telling customers to report violations of the new "English only" policy.
The case made the news locally, and Dunkin' Donuts heard of it. They told the guy to rescind the policy and take down the signs, and threatened him with losing his franchise. Good for them!
3. In an old episode of "NYPD Blue", tje Jimmy Smits character and the Dennis Franz character (Andy Sipowicz) were checking out a murdered Indian woman. Andy was reading her driver's license:
"Rama... Ramasamu... You'd think these people, when they come to the U.S. would change their names to something you could pronounce"
"You mean, like 'Sipowicz' ?"
Hey, Barry.
Thank you for your comments. I appreciate your sharing the story re: Dunkin' Donuts. Such stupidity and racism simply astounds me. I also like the reference to the NYPD Blue quote. As if the names of many so-called Americans are any easier to pronounce. (shakes head)
